Before you book, take a regular 6-inch screwdriver and put it in your lawn. If it goes in easily all the way to the handle, we are good! If you have to use a hammer or it doesn't go in at all, neither will my very lightweight yard sign stakes. Test the entire area for the full size of the sign then share on the Request Form where you tested your yard and where to put the sign based on the results of that test.

Right to Left: 25-30 feet for a full size sign
Front to Back: 7-15 feet for a full size sign
Maybe there is still hope! First every yard has a few tricky spots or pebbles to be navigated under the turf, and we have tools to deal with that. But if you cannot get the screwdriver in easily 99% of the time, don't book. If it is rocks, concrete or something else, definitely do not order a sign. If it is just dry though, you can water your lawn A LOT for several days and test again. But don't request a sign until your lawn passes the Screwdriver Test.
It's a game of chance if you book a sign hoping you can soften your yard. Don't do it. If we come out and the yard is hard, we will leave. We have to or other signs won't go up if we stay in your yard trying to make it work. Once you pay, I cannot do any refunds short of a natural disaster or other life altering event.
